Jewels Scholarship Fundraising Campaign

The month of July we are celebrating the life and legacy of Jewel Bro. Charles Henry Chapman, who entered higher education and eventually became Professor of Agriculture at what is now Florida A&M University. A university funeral was held with considerable Fraternity participation when he became the first Jewel to enter Omega Chapter in 1934. Described as “a Brother beloved in the bonds,” Chapman was a founder of FAMUs Beta Nu Chapter. During the organization stages of Alpha Chapter, he was the first chairman of the Committees on Initiation and Organization.

Thoughts on “The Experiment in Brotherhood” as spoken by Jewel Bro. Charles Henry Chapman in 1931.

“Above everything else, I want you to understand that there never was or has been or will be, in the minds of the founders, including myself, the thought of any reward or any notice coming to us for this experiment in brotherly cooperation and comradeship, which we initiated and which was developed, not necessarily because of any efforts of ours, into one of the best regarded organizations in the Negro collegiate world.”

The Brothers of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., the Zeta Pi Lambda Chapter, would like to invite you to participate in our Jewels Scholarship Fundraising Campaign. Each month from now until December we will honor one of our Jewels by asking for a donation of $19.06 to our philanthropic arms of our chapter, The Alpha Education Fund, Inc. and the Seattle Alpha Education Foundation, Inc.

Payments can be made online via Ticketleap or by check payable to Alpha Education Fund, Inc.P.O.Box 21125 Seattle, WA 98111-3125
$19.06 each month or one-time contribution of $134.00

The philanthropic arms of the Seattle Alphas are dedicated to aiding the downtrodden humanity in its efforts to achieve social, economic and intellectual status by funding educational programs, social activities, seminars, and support groups who provide services to children, adult individuals and families.
